Within the UAE, it has only been recorded from Jebel Fayyah (Jongbloed et al. 2003) and associated ridges. Globally, this species' native range spans across the tropical and subtropical Old World (Board of Trustees, RBG Kew 2019).

This species is thought to persist as an annual or short-lived perennial (Jongbloed et al. 2003). It grows within the gravel of wadi beds, gravel plains and foothills within these areas (MEW 2010).
