This species has been recorded from Wadi Bih (Böer and Chaudhary 1999) within the Ru'us al-Jibal in the UAE. However, this record needs to be confirmed (MEW 2010). Globally, this species occurs from Egypt and Tanzania to the Arabian Peninsula (Board of Trustees, RBG Kew 2019).

Indigofera spinosa is a bush that produces spines along its stems, in addition to pale crimson flowers (Jongbloed et al. 2003). It has a perennial lifecycle (Jongbloed et al. 2003) and is found growing within sand sheets in the UAE (Böer and Chaudry 1999). This species is characteristic of and common within its typical habitats (Ghazanfar and Fisher 1998) in Oman.

This species is known from a currently unconfirmed record in Wadi Bih (Böer and Chaudhary 1999). The habitat (sand sheets) cited by Böer and Chaudhary (1999) is inconsistent with the Wadi Bih locality that they cite. This needs to be confirmed, along with identifying any additional localities, potential threats and uses, in addition to population status and trends. Currently, this species is assessed as Data Deficient.
