Assessment rationale/justification
This species is considered to be fairly widespread within the Hajar Mountain range, and may be even more widespread due to suggested occurrence in the Ru'us al-Jibal. Although grazing by goats may pose a threat to this species, it is unclear what effect this has on the plant. It is currently assessed as Least Concern.

Taxon distribution as listed in assessment
Within the UAE, it is considered to be widespread within the Hajar Mountains (Jongbloed et al. 2003). It is also considered that this species may well occur in the Ru'us al-Jibal, having possibly been overlooked (Feulner 2011). Globally, the native range of this species spans from the Canary Islands, through the Mediterranean and northern Africa to the Arabian Peninsula and on to Pakistan (Board of Trustees, RBG Kew 2019).
