Taxon distribution as listed in assessment
According to Jongbloed et al. (2003), the species is found in sandy desert of Dubai and Sharjah emirates and along the east coast. The global range of this species is across northern Africa, through the Arabian Peninsula to Central Asia (Board of Trustees, RBG Kew 2019). The draft Red Data Book (MEW 2010) considered that all material identified as T. macropterus is referable to T. pentandrus. However, T. macropterus Boiss is currently maintained as a valid taxon by Plants of the World Online (Board of Trustees, RBG Kew 2019) and the African Plant Database (APD 2019).
