Assessment rationale/justification
This species is not generally described as common within the UAE, however, it is widespread across the Hajar Mountains and southern Ru'us al-Jibal, in addition to being locally common in this area. In terms of elevation, it can grow up to at least 1600 m above sea level. It was also described from at least one protected area within its range. Therefore, this species is assessed as Least Concern.

Within the UAE this species is widespread within the northern Hajar Mountain range and in the southern part of the Ru'us al-Jibal (Jongbloed et al. 2003). This plant has been recorded from elevations up to 1600 m in the Ru'us al-Jibal (Feulner 2011). Globally, the native range of this species spans from Spain, across northern Africa and on to the Arabian Peninsula and Pakistan (Board of Trustees, RBG Kew 2019).

This annual species has delicate stems and can reach up to 20 cm in height (Jongbloed et al. 2003). It has oblong leaves with rounded tips, green flowers between February and June and flat round fruit which matures from green to white (Jongbloed et al. 2003). Callipeltis cucullaris is generally found growing between rocks, within wadis and on mountain slopes (Jongbloed et al. 2003, Feulner 2011).
