Within the UAE, this species occurs in scattered localities throughout the country, in addition to offshore islands (Jongbloed et al. 2003). This species is native to northern Africa, the Arabian Peninsula and Pakistan (Board of Trustees, RBG Kew 2019).

This perennial herb species has a woody base and can grow to around 30 cm in height (Jongbloed et al. 2003, Mahmoud et al. 2018). The plant itself is covered in fine white hairs, has grey-green linear leaves with pointed tips and produces multi-branched white flowers between February and May (Jongbloed et al. 2003). It grows in compact, stable sand substrate in between dunes and gravel (Jongbloed et al. 2003, Mahmoud et al. 2018).
