This species is native to the Gulf States within the Arabian Peninsula (Board of Trustees, RBG Kew 2019). Within the UAE, it has been recorded from the Hajar Mountains and the Wadi Wurayah National Park (MEW 2010, Feulner 2016). It is known to occur up to 1,525 m altitude in the Ru'us al-Jibal (Feulner 2011).

This is an annual species which can grow up to 80 cm in height (Jongbloed et al. 2003). It has long slender stems with sticky patches and produces white flowers between February and March (Jongbloed et al. 2003). During the daytime, this species can roll up its petals to protect from heat (Feulner 2016). It can be found growing within gravel plains and wadis in the Hajar Mountains (Jongbloed et al. 2003, MEW 2010).
