Assessment rationale/justification
In the UAE, the species is restricted to the northern Hajar Mountains and the Ru'us al-Jibal, with records extending to the east coast and Al Shuwaib (Abu Dhabi). Although the extent of occurrence is moderately restricted, at less than 2,000 km2, and there is a lack of information on threats and its population trend, it is likely to occur in many more than ten locations and is therefore assessed as Least Concern.

Taxon distribution as listed in assessment
In the UAE, the species is restricted to the northern Hajar Mountains (Jongbloed et al. 2003) and the Ru'us al-Jibal in the UAE (Jongbloed et al. 2003, Feulner 2011, <a href=""http://data.rbge.org.uk/herb/E00641628"">RBGE Herbarium</a>), with records extending to the east coast (oceanic garden behind the beach, Mudaifi, Sharjah), Wadi Helo (Sharjah) and Al Shuwaib (Abu Dhabi) (Sharjah Seedbank & Herbarium). Feulner (2011) recorded the species from the Ru'us al-Jibal to at least 800 m asl. Whilst the map shown by Jongbloed et al. (2003) encompasses the Wadi Wurayah National Park (WWNP), presence there has not been confirmed, although N. hastatum has been and may prove to be a synonym of N. ramosissimum (Feulner 2016). The global range of this species is through northeastern Africa to the Arabian Peninsula (Oman) to Southeast Asia (Board of Trustees, RBG Kew 2019).
