This species occurs in scattered localities across the mountains of the UAE and is generally described as rare. The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) for the plant is around 1,600 km<sup>2</sup>. Nothing is known of the population size and trend, and it is considered Data Deficient.

Within the UAE, this species is recorded from scattered localities in the mountains including the Ru'us al-Jibal (Jongbloed et al. 2003). It is generally found between low to medium elevations (Jongbloed et al. 2003, Feulner 2011). The estimated EOO for this species is around 1,600 km<sup>2</sup>. Globally, the native range of this species encompasses northern Africa and Somalia, in addition to from the Mediterranean to the Arabian Peninsula and on to Iran (Board of Trustees, RBG Kew 2019).

This is an annual herb species that grows within silt substrates in rocky mountain slopes (Jongbloed et al. 2003). The stems reach up to 20 cm, the leaves are trifoliate and serrated while the yellow flowers are present between February and April (Jongbloed et al. 2003).
