This species is widespread throughout the Hajar Mountain range in the UAE. Despite being described as 'not common', it is also known to occur within at least one protected area within its range. Therefore, it is assessed as Least Concern.

Within the UAE, this species is known to be widespread throughout the Hajar Mountains (Jongbloed et al. 2003, MEW 2010), although absent from the Ru'us al-Jibal. Globally, this species is native to Pakistan and Iran, and the Gulf States (Oman) (ILDIS 2019).

This annual herb species grows within wadis and gravel plain habitats (Jongbloed et al. 2003, MEW 2010, Feulner 2016, Mahmoud et al. 2018). It has a prostrate growth form and thick, hairy, oblong leaves with pointed tips, in addition to purple and yellow flowers which can be seen between February and April (Western 1991, Jongbloed et al. 2003).
