In the UAE, this species is found in the eastern emirates, from Jebel Hafeet north along the western foothills and adjacent plains of the Hajar Mountains (Jongbloed et al. 2003). The global range of this species is through the Arabian Peninsula (Board of Trustees, RBG Kew 2019).

Seetzenia lanata is a sessile perennial herb that is found on sandy and gravelly plains (Jongbloed et al. 2003). It grows mostly in rocky or salty wadi beds (Karim and Dakheel 2006) and is more common after rain (MEW 2010).
