Taxonomic notes and synonyms listed
The Plant List (2018) has Anabasis ehrenbergii as the senior name, with Caroxylon arabicum Akhani & Roalson as a synonym (and Salsola arabica Ehrenb. ex Boiss., unresolved, as a possible synonym). We follow CMEP (RBG Edinburgh) in accepting Caroxylon arabicum, with Salsola arabica as a synonym, and certainly distinct from Anabasis ehrenbergii. They are relatively unrelated (A. Forrest pers. comm. 2018).

Taxon distribution as listed in assessment
There seems to be little information available regarding this species in the UAE, both under Caroxylon arabicum and under other synonyms for the species, and the presence and distribution of the species in the UAE requires confirmation. However, it has been suggested that it could be widespread throughout the western region of the UAE, on near-coastal plains. This species is native to the Arabian Peninsula (Gulf States, Saudi Arabia; Board of Trustees, RBG Kew 2019).
