Habitat and populations suffer from severe human-induced threats which have resulted in only very few mature individuals estimated currently. Restricted numbers indicate that the taxon is Endangered. Since nothing is known of the neighbouring Myanmar population, the assessment is retained as Endangered for South Asia.
